Manager, Financial Reporting & Fixed Asset Accounting
Job Description
Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager of Financial Reporting and Fixed Asset Accounting to join our dynamic finance team. This role will oversee a team of three direct reports. The Manager will oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports and ensure the accurate accounting and management of the company’s fixed assets. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity and compliance with accounting standards while supporting strategic decision-making through reliable financial data.
Responsibilities:
1.Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and in compliance with U.S. GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations.
- Review financial reports and work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Assist in managing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, particularly related to fixed assets, accruals, and capital expenditures.
2.Fixed Asset Accounting:
- Manage the accurate recording, tracking, and depreciation of the company’s fixed assets in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
- Oversee the capital asset lifecycle, including capitalizations, disposals, transfers, and impairments.
- Prepare and maintain detailed fixed asset schedules and reconciliation of asset sub-ledger to the general ledger.
- Collaborate with corporate teams and property management to ensure proper accounting for new asset acquisitions, project costs, and asset disposals.
3.Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining strong internal controls related to financial reporting and asset management, including asset tracking and documentation.
- Work with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during audit periods.
4.Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in financial reporting and asset accounting processes and propose recommendations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement process improvements, including automation and reporting tools, to streamline financial workflows.
5.Team Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Procurement, and IT, to ensure accurate reporting and fixed asset management.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and assist in their development.
- Assist the Director in preparing ad-hoc financial reports, analyses, and presentations for management.
6.Strategic Analysis and Decision Support:
- Assist in providing detailed financial analysis and reports related to fixed assets and capital expenditures to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
- Review financial performance and support senior management with data and insights for strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) License required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or fixed asset management.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting standards, and fixed asset accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to work from our Chicago Corporate Headquarters on a hybrid-remote work schedule (M/F optional work from home and T/W/TH in-office)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SEC filings and public company reporting (if applicable).
- Combination of public accounting and industry is ideal
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis in a public or large corporate environment.
- Experience with hotels and/or theme parks preferred.
Estimated Salary Range:
$110,000 - $130,000 annual base salary
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Great Wolf’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and other perks.
